Hello!
I have a new post for you:) In the last lesson, we discussed the topiс 'CALL and language skills'. As everyone knows, if you want to learn something, then you need to develop your skills skills. This also applies to languages. And today I want to talk about some useful resources for learning English that were proposed for study at the seminar.
Let's start with the developing of your listening and speaking skills.
You can download Higgin's multimedia guide that organized in comparison of personal pronunciation with a reference accent not only on hearing, but also visually on the schedule on the screen. But this is not ideal for learning the pronunciation of the English language, because after some research (or user's comments) it was found that the schedule displays inaccurate results: supposedly real native speakers speak it incorrectly. That's why you should also visit this site.
I told about it more detailed in the previous post. The advantage of this site is that there is an opportunity to try a free short course. Due to it you can understand if course suits you. Let's move on to reading and writing skills.
Among the offered sites, I liked this one the most, because it is quite diversified: you can read as mini-stories with exercises for their understanding (inserting the necessary words, which develops not only reading skills, but also writing ones), and, for example, articles from various magazines and newspapers, and learn something new and interesting for yourself, - I think this is a very useful resource. But if you need to develop writing skills at a higher level than simply inserting words into sentences, then you should use this site. Here you can write essays, reports or write for different subjects. It's clear that to learn any language and speak it correctly and beautifully, you need to know its grammar and vocabulary, so I'm going to share with you some useful links concerning these aspects. It's important to mention that grammar practice was perhaps the earliest use of CALL. For example, here you can get online hints, tips and feedback, and take your course with you anywhere. This site will be useful for teaching children, there you can find different games, quizzes, ect. Also this site can help to improve not only grammar, but vocabulary and pronunciation too.
What concerns vocabulary I can add this site, which is the world's best and largest picture dictionaty.
Good luck!
